Standardization Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Standardization Engineer to support technical terminology and language standardization activities within a global engineering environment. The role involves terminology investigations, database administration, translation management, and communication/training activities related to terminology and language processes.
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical capabilities, terminology management experience, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across international teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Standardization & Terminology Management
Lead and support defined areas of technical standardization.
Perform terminology investigations by collecting and analyzing data to prepare decision recommendations.
Manage and optimize terminology used for part names, including:
New terminology additions
Cleanup and optimization of existing terminology
Maintain and update terminology databases according to defined processes and standards.
Manage term translations and multilingual terminology updates in accordance with established workflows.
Process & Governance
Work according to terminology best practices and international standards such as:
ISO 704:2009 – Terminology Work: Principles and Methods
Support development and maintenance of common technical standards and design guidelines.
Contribute input to product and system roadmaps.
Communication & Training
Deliver communication and training activities related to terminology and language management.
Provide technical guidance and knowledge-sharing support.
Support adoption of terminology processes and tools across teams.
Collaboration & Networking
Collaborate with cross-functional and international stakeholders.
Participate in standardization networks and knowledge-sharing forums.
Build relationships within engineering ecosystems, universities, and external institutes when relevant.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory Skills
2–5 years of relevant experience in:
Technical standardization
Terminology management
Language/translation coordination
Technical documentation or linguistic engineering
Experience performing terminology investigations and data analysis.
Hands-on experience with terminology databases and administration.
Strong understanding of terminology principles and methods.
Experience managing translations and multilingual terminology workflows.
Excellent communication and training capabilities.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Language Requirements
Strong English communication skills (primary working language).
Good understanding of Swedish to interpret legacy terminology/database content.
Tool Knowledge
Experience with terminology management tools.
Exposure to Acrolinx is highly preferred.
