Cloud Architect

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the end-to-end cloud architecture strategy across AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • Lead the design of scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems

  • Establish infrastructure-as-code standards and GitOps practices across teams

  • Drive cloud cost optimisation and FinOps governance programmes

  • Architect CI/CD pipelines and platform engineering foundations

  • Own security architecture — IAM, network segmentation, secrets management, compliance

  • Evaluate and onboard new cloud-native services and tooling

  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers; conduct architecture reviews

  • Partner with product and security teams to align infrastructure with business needs

Requirements

  • 7+ years in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering roles

  • Deep hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred)

  • Strong command of IaC tooling — Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK

  • Solid Kubernetes and container orchestration experience (EKS, GKE, or AKS)

  • Strong understanding of cloud security frameworks (CIS, SOC 2, ISO 27001)

  • Proven architectural leadership across large engineering organisations

  • Excellent communication skills — able to translate technical complexity for non-technical audiences

  • Multi-cloud (AWS + Azure/GCP)

  • Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)

  • FinOps certification

  • Platform engineering (Backstage)

  • Zero-trust network architecture
