We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Light Designer to join the ZEEKR Design Studio in Gothenburg. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future lighting identity of our vehicles by designing innovative interior and exterior lighting concepts that combine aesthetics, functionality, emotion, and brand identity.

You will be part of the Technology & Innovation department and work closely with Interior Design, Exterior Design, CMF, UX, and Engineering teams to create future-forward lighting solutions that meet technical, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly collaborative and fast-paced design environment and enjoys pushing the boundaries of automotive lighting innovation through visualization, simulation, and hands-on prototyping.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop innovative lighting concepts for both interior and exterior vehicle applications, including:

  • Ambient lighting

  • Functional lighting

  • Communication lighting

• Design lighting solutions that align with vehicle design language, brand identity, user experience, and technical feasibility.

• Integrate lighting concepts into vehicle surfaces, materials, joints, gaps, and architectural forms.

• Utilize lighting visualization and simulation tools, VR environments, and digital workflows to validate concepts and feasibility.

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams and suppliers to transform conceptual ideas into manufacturable solutions.

• Build and validate lighting prototypes internally and together with suppliers.

• Prepare and deliver engaging presentations that clearly communicate design intent, storytelling, and technical direction to stakeholders.

• Support innovation initiatives by exploring new technologies, materials, and lighting interaction concepts.

• Ensure lighting concepts comply with automotive regulations, performance requirements, and manufacturing constraints.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

  • Industrial Design

  • Product Design

  • Transportation Design

  • Lighting Design

  • Interaction Design

  • or a related field

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in:

  • Automotive lighting design

  • Transportation lighting design

  • Consumer lighting products

  • Architectural lighting design

• Strong portfolio showcasing lighting concepts, visualization, and production-oriented design solutions.

• Proficiency with lighting visualization, rendering, simulation, and prototyping tools.

• Experience collaborating with engineering teams and suppliers to develop feasible and manufacturable lighting solutions.

• Hands-on prototyping mindset with practical understanding of:

  • Electronics basics

  • Rapid prototyping

  • Physical validation methods

• Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills in English.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of automotive lighting regulations and industry standards.

• Experience working with:

  • Ambient lighting systems

  • Dynamic lighting interactions

  • Human-centered lighting experiences

  • Smart lighting technologies

• Knowledge of material-light interaction and CMF integration.

• Experience within automotive OEMs or advanced design studios is highly preferred.
