Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Design Consultant (2D I-DEAS)

About the Assignment

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Design Consultant with strong expertise in 2D I-DEAS to support an important engineering project for a global industrial client.

The assignment focuses on the production, maintenance, and migration of legacy engineering drawings for an existing product portfolio originally developed over 20 years ago in the I-DEAS CAD environment. The consultant will play a key role in ensuring high-quality engineering documentation while supporting the transition of legacy data into modern PLM systems.

Key Responsibilities

Produce and maintain mechanical engineering drawings using 2D I-DEAS*.

* Update and revise existing legacy drawings while maintaining engineering quality and compliance.

* Create accurate manufacturing and assembly drawings from existing design data.

* Classify engineering drawings based on project and non-project requirements.

* Perform drawing version management, including engineering change updates.

* Translate and update engineering documentation into English where required.

Support conversion and migration of drawings into Teamcenter* through Consensus.

Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)* for accuracy and consistency.

* Ensure engineering documentation complies with internal standards and quality requirements.

* Collaborate closely with engineering teams to resolve drawing-related technical issues.

* Participate in regular progress reviews and provide accurate estimates for drawing completion.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Proven experience in mechanical design* and engineering drawing production.

Strong hands-on experience with 2D I-DEAS* (mandatory).

* Experience working with legacy CAD systems and maintaining historical engineering documentation.

* Solid understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation standards.

* Experience with engineering change management and document version control.

Familiarity with BOM management* and engineering documentation processes.

* Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

* Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Teamcenter PLM*.

Knowledge of Consensus* data migration processes.

* Experience converting legacy CAD data into modern PLM environments.

* Previous experience within industrial equipment, motors & generators, heavy machinery, or manufacturing industries.

* Understanding of engineering documentation lifecycle and configuration management.
