We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) & Sustainability Compliance Specialist to support our client in driving a proactive, compliant, and sustainable work environment across the organization.

In this role, you will act as the subject matter expert for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and Sustainability Compliance, ensuring the organization complies with Swedish legislation, international standards, and internal governance requirements. You will work closely with management teams, HR, business functions, and external authorities to strengthen organizational capability, promote a positive safety culture, and continuously improve EHS performance.

This is a senior role requiring excellent stakeholder management, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across a complex, matrix organization.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Management & Compliance

• Establish, implement, and continuously improve structured EHS management processes across the organization.

• Ensure compliance with applicable Swedish work environment legislation, the Swedish Environmental Code, and other relevant regulations.

• Provide expert guidance and support to managers on EHS compliance, risk management, and legal obligations.

• Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, standards, and governance frameworks.

• Support markets, workshops, and business units in achieving local regulatory compliance.

Risk Management & Work Environment

• Lead and support systematic work environment management (SAM).

• Drive initiatives related to Organizational and Social Work Environment (OSA).

• Support managers in conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive and corrective actions.

• Coordinate safety rounds, workplace inspections, and structured follow-up activities.

• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and employee wellbeing.

Incident Management

• Own and manage incident and near-miss reporting processes.

• Coordinate investigations and perform root cause analysis.

• Ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.

• Monitor incident trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

Sustainability & Environmental Compliance

• Manage the Sustainability Compliance Process and Sustainability Compliance Matrix.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability requirements.

• Support sustainability initiatives across the organization.

• Coordinate environmental permits and reporting activities with relevant authorities.

ISO Management Systems

• Lead and coordinate ISO 14001 environmental management activities.

• Support certification and surveillance audits.

• Coordinate internal and external audits.

• Manage corrective action plans and management reviews.

• Work closely with Business Assurance to ensure ongoing certification compliance.

Training & Organizational Development

• Develop and deliver EHS training programs.

• Coach and support managers on:

  • Systematic Work Environment Management (SAM)

  • Organizational & Social Work Environment (OSA)

  • Ergonomics

  • Risk Assessment

  • Incident Reporting

• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Performance Monitoring

• Monitor EHS KPIs and compliance metrics.

• Analyze trends and prepare management reports.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on performance data.

• Maintain EHS documentation and reporting systems.

Stakeholder & Authority Management

• Collaborate with:

• Manage communication with regulatory authorities regarding permits, inspections, and compliance matters.

• Support organizational changes from an EHS perspective.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in:

  • Environment

  • Occupational Health & Safety

  • Sustainability

  • Engineering

  • Environmental Science

  • Occupational Hygiene

  • or a related discipline.

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in:

  • Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Sustainability Compliance

  • Work Environment Management

  • Regulatory Compliance

• Experience working in large, complex, or global organizations.

• Strong understanding of EHS management systems.

• Experience managing incident investigations and corrective actions.

• Experience supporting organizational compliance initiatives.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
