Electronics Design Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our engineering team and support the development of advanced electronic systems for modern powertrain and vehicle applications. In this role, you will work closely with suppliers, system architects, software engineers, and vehicle integration teams to ensure electronic hardware solutions meet technical, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout the complete product development lifecycle.

About the Team
The Hybrid Propulsion & Installation organization is responsible for the development, integration, and verification of electronic systems used within hybrid powertrains and vehicle installations.
Our scope includes:
Engine and transmission electronic hardware and software
Hybrid and electrified propulsion systems
Fuel and EVAP systems
Cooling systems
Air induction systems
Exhaust after-treatment systems
Diagnostics and onboard monitoring
Vehicle electrical architecture
Vehicle integration and validation
You will collaborate with system architects, electronics engineers, software developers, verification engineers, and suppliers to deliver robust and reliable solutions for future vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and follow up supplier-developed electronic hardware throughout the complete product development lifecycle.
Review electronic hardware designs, schematics, technical documentation, and verification reports.
Ensure compliance with Electrical Load Profile (ELP) requirements.
Review and verify compliance with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements and automotive regulations.
Participate in technical design reviews with suppliers and internal engineering teams.
Evaluate supplier deliverables including:
SREA
SCRICA
Design documentation
Verification reports
Support electronics verification, validation, and vehicle integration activities.
Perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions for electronic hardware issues.
Support requirement engineering, configuration management, and engineering change requests.
Collaborate with software, system, testing, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams throughout development.
Contribute to continuous improvements in engineering processes, design methods, and supplier collaboration.
Support prototype builds, testing activities, and production readiness.
Participate in issue resolution and technical decision-making across global engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
Electrical Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Mechatronics
Automotive Engineering
Embedded Systems
or a related technical discipline.
3+ years of experience in electronics design, electronic hardware development, verification, or automotive system engineering.
Experience working with automotive electronic hardware throughout the product development lifecycle.
Good understanding of electronic hardware development processes.
Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic architectures.
Experience reviewing electronic hardware documentation and design deliverables.
Understanding of EMC principles and testing methodologies.
Experience working with automotive suppliers or external engineering partners.
Knowledge of automotive requirement management and engineering change processes.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills in English.

Experience with one or more of the following:

Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
Automotive Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434)

UNECE R10
LV124 / LV148
Experience within Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, or another automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier is considered an advantage.
