D365 F&O Solution Architect

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Solution Architect to take overall technical ownership of solution design across D365 F&O and its surrounding platforms.

You will be responsible for defining architecture principles, integration strategies, technical standards, and key technology decisions. The role requires someone who can work at both the solution-design level and the overall architecture level, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and business-aligned solutions.

A key focus will be on minimizing technical debt and unnecessary customization while ensuring robust data flows and integrations between D365 F&O, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, and other business systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and lead the overall solution architecture for D365 F&O implementations.

• Define architecture principles, technical standards, integration patterns, and technology decisions.

• Design and oversee integrations between D365 F&O, Power Platform, Azure, APIs, and third-party/business systems.

• Define appropriate data models, data flows, and integration approaches.

• Design scalable solutions supporting complex ERP and finance processes.

• Evaluate and balance standard D365 F&O functionality against customization requirements.

• Drive decisions that reduce technical debt, over-customization, and long-term maintenance complexity.

• Provide technical direction and architectural governance across multiple development teams, partners, and vendors.

• Collaborate closely with functional teams, developers, business stakeholders, and external implementation partners.

• Ensure architecture decisions are clearly documented, communicated, and consistently implemented.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural gaps and drive appropriate solutions.

• Support complex transformation and implementation programs from architecture through delivery.

Required Experience & Skills

• Several years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).

• Proven experience working as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect on D365 F&O implementations.

• Demonstrated ownership of architecture decisions in complex ERP implementations.

• Strong understanding of system architecture, integrations, APIs, data models, and data flows.

• Experience designing solutions for finance, ERP, and business-critical processes.

• Strong understanding of D365 F&O architecture and integration capabilities.

• Ability to make, communicate, and defend technical decisions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven ability to balance out-of-the-box functionality with business-specific customization.

• Experience working in complex transformation or implementation programs involving multiple teams, vendors, and technology partners.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and related Microsoft technologies.

• Experience designing automation, workflows, and third-party solutions around D365 F&O.

• Demonstrated experience in reducing technical debt and avoiding over-customization.

• Experience within real estate/property management, rental administration, or another complex business domain with extensive integration requirements.

• Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, combined with strong and recent D365 F&O experience.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a senior D365 F&O architect who combines strong technical depth with genuine architectural ownership.

You should be comfortable going deep into solution design while also maintaining a clear view of the overall enterprise architecture. You have previously held formal architecture responsibility and can demonstrate real examples of architecture decisions you personally made and governed.

This is not a role for a senior D365 developer or functional consultant who simply has “Architect” in their title. We are looking for someone who has genuinely owned architecture decisions, integration strategies, technical governance, and end-to-end solution design.
