ADS Software Component Owner / Senior Expert
We are looking for a highly experienced ADS Software Component Owner to take end-to-end responsibility for the combined software of an Autonomous Driving System (ADS) node.
The Software Component Owner will act as the primary technical contact for all software-related questions and decisions concerning the ADS node, coordinating deliveries from autonomous-driving partners and internal engineering teams throughout the complete product lifecycle.
The role requires close collaboration across software, hardware, verification & validation, manufacturing, functional safety, cybersecurity, quality, suppliers, production, and aftermarket organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical contact and owner for the combined software of the ADS node.
Represent the ADS node in internal software release processes, technical reviews, and decision forums.
Coordinate software and hardware releases together with Hardware Component Owners, configuration/change-management functions, V&V teams, and other stakeholders.
Manage software releases received from external autonomous-driving partners and integrate ADS software into internal vehicle software baselines.
Ensure software/hardware compatibility, replacement chains, transitions, dependencies, and release synchronization between the base vehicle and ADS node.
Monitor ADS node performance and capacity, including CPU load, memory utilization, intended usage, system limitations, and future roadmap requirements.
Coordinate integration of software components including diagnostics and calibration, and drive resolution of integration issues.
Ensure factory, development, production, and aftermarket tools are capable of testing, diagnosing, and supporting the ADS software.
Ensure ADS node functionality is sufficiently verified and validated and that deviations are resolved or appropriately handled before release.
Create and maintain technical node documentation, including part numbers, variants, compatibility information, diagnostic objects, calibration requirements, routines, and related configuration data.
Support technical planning, risk analysis, and product assurance activities including FMEA, HARA, TARA, and SIP.
Prioritize, coordinate, and drive resolution of software and product issues related to the ADS node.
Lead technical communication with autonomous-driving partners and suppliers together with SQE, engineering, and supporting functions.
Support supplier and product-change activities including Statements of Work (SOW), Product Change Requests, APQP, and PPAP.
Take ownership of software readiness from development and integration through production release and aftermarket support.
Required Qualifications & Experience
12+ years of relevant professional experience, with recognized expert-level competence within automotive software, embedded systems, ADAS/ADS, or related areas.
Extensive experience with automotive embedded software and ECU/node software ownership.
Strong experience with ADAS and/or Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS).
Proven experience coordinating complex software releases, integrations, and software/hardware dependencies.
Experience working with external software suppliers, Tier-1 partners, technology partners, or autonomous-driving partners.
Strong understanding of automotive software development and release lifecycles.
Experience with requirements management, configuration management, change management, and software traceability.
Strong understanding of software integration, diagnostics, calibration, and vehicle-level testing.
Experience coordinating verification and validation activities and assessing software readiness for release.
Knowledge of Functional Safety and automotive cybersecurity, including relevant experience with ISO 26262, HARA and TARA.
Experience with engineering risk-management methods such as FMEA.
Understanding of ECU/node resource management, including CPU performance, memory utilization, and system capacity.
Experience supporting software through development, manufacturing, production, and aftermarket phases.
Experience with supplier-quality and industrialization processes such as APQP and PPAP is highly desirable.
Strong technical leadership, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Fluent professional English and comfortable working with international, cross-functional engineering teams.
