Automotive Product Quality & Field Quality Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Automotive Product Quality & Field Quality Engineer to support vehicle quality investigations, advanced fault tracing, root cause analysis, and customer-focused testing of in-car functions.
The role will focus on identifying and resolving field quality issues in vehicles already on the market, supporting aftermarket organizations, coordinating product improvement activities, and validating new or revised vehicle functions before their introduction. The position requires a hands-on approach, combining in-vehicle troubleshooting, diagnostic tools, data analysis, issue management, and customer-oriented quality assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct product quality investigations on vehicles in the market and clearly define the problems to be solved.
Collect and analyze relevant technical data, including reproduction of reported issues, to support problem resolution.
Perform failure mode analysis and root cause analysis for field quality problems.
Conduct advanced in-car fault tracing and troubleshooting to identify technical issues and contributing factors.
Propose and support implementation of appropriate containment and corrective actions.
Provide technical support to the automotive aftermarket and dealership organization regarding vehicle quality issues.
Manage product improvement and quality-related tasks within the assigned technical area using Jira and GQMP systems.
Track issues, actions, priorities, and resolution progress to ensure timely closure.
Perform customer-focused function acceptance testing of new and revised vehicle functions before market introduction.
Assess vehicle functions from a practical customer perspective, including usability, functionality, and overall customer experience.
Visit dealerships and interact with customers when required to investigate field issues and gather first-hand information.
Prepare clear and structured technical reports and issue descriptions for internal stakeholders.
Ensure appropriate handling of customer and vehicle-related information in accordance with GDPR requirements.
Travel as required to support field investigations, dealerships, and customer-related quality activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience in automotive aftermarket, vehicle quality, field quality, or product quality issue resolution.
Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and failure mode analysis.
Hands-on experience with in-car fault tracing and vehicle troubleshooting.
Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to understand complex technical problems and translate findings into clear issue reports.
Experience working with Jira or similar issue/task management systems; knowledge of GQMP is an advantage.
Good understanding of vehicle functions and automotive systems.
Practical awareness of GDPR and responsible handling of customer-related information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license for passenger vehicles.
Good ability to evaluate vehicle functions from a customer and real-world driving perspective.
