Manufacturing Tooling & Equipment Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Tooling & Equipment Engineer – Lead to drive the design, development, implementation, and optimization of mechanical tooling and manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience and strong expertise in manufacturing engineering, mechanical equipment, tooling, and production processes.
This is a lead-level position requiring the ability to independently manage complex projects, provide technical guidance to engineers, and deliver end-to-end manufacturing solutions with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Research, evaluate, and recommend manufacturing equipment and tooling solutions based on production requirements.
Design, develop, and implement mechanical equipment, machinery, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids.
Modify and improve existing equipment and tooling to enhance productivity, quality, reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.
Lead the complete engineering lifecycle from concept development and design through installation, commissioning, validation, and production handover.
Oversee equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and performance to optimize equipment utilization, uptime, throughput, and production yield.
Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for tooling, equipment, and process improvements.
Troubleshoot complex equipment and tooling issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventive solutions.
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Technology Transfer, and other cross-functional teams.
Support the introduction of new equipment and manufacturing processes into production environments.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, equipment specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.
Provide technical guidance and coach, review, and delegate work to junior and mid-level engineers.
Lead large-scale projects and manage end-to-end engineering processes with limited managerial oversight.
Liaise with Technology Transfer and Production teams and provide training and technical support for new equipment, tooling, and associated processes.
Ensure equipment and tooling solutions comply with applicable quality, safety, manufacturing, and engineering standards.
Monitor project progress, identify technical risks, and drive timely resolution of complex engineering problems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
Typically 8+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing tooling, equipment engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
Strong experience in mechanical equipment and tooling design and development.
Proven experience with jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, machine attachments, and manufacturing equipment.
Experience managing complex manufacturing engineering projects from concept to production implementation.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization.
Experience working with cross-functional and production teams in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to solve difficult and complex technical problems independently.
Experience mentoring, coaching, reviewing, and delegating work to other engineers.
