Digital Key Calibration & Validation Engineer – Automotive
We are looking for a Digital Key Calibration & Validation Engineer to support Bluetooth-based Digital Key calibration for Android mobile devices across two vehicle models.
The assignment involves manually calibrating and measuring Android phones to ensure reliable passive-start functionality, while meeting applicable regulatory, insurance, and user-experience requirements. The engineer will work closely with technical experts and vehicle teams to establish the calibration environment, perform measurements, document results, and provide regular progress updates.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and establish the required Digital Key calibration and measurement environment.
Review and understand calibration requirements, test procedures, and applicable tools.
Receive initial training from technical experts and apply the calibration methodology independently.
Perform manual Bluetooth Digital Key calibration for Android smartphones, one device at a time.
Calibrate and measure approximately 60+ Android phones across two vehicle models.
Adjust calibration parameters to achieve the required distance accuracy, passive-start performance, and user experience.
Perform verification and validation activities to confirm calibration results meet defined requirements.
Record calibration values and test results for each phone and vehicle combination.
Identify, investigate, and report calibration issues, deviations, and technical risks.
Prepare and maintain accurate test and calibration documentation.
Provide daily status updates covering progress, risks, and issues.
Prepare weekly progress reports and contribute to the final calibration report.
Collaborate with engineering teams and technical experts to resolve calibration-related issues.
Ensure all calibration activities are completed according to the agreed plan and priorities.
Deliverables
Calibration plan covering all selected Android phones and vehicle models.
Calibration results documenting required values for each phone and vehicle model.
Daily status updates including progress, risks, and issues.
Weekly status reports.
Final detailed calibration report covering all completed calibration activities and results.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 2 years of engineering experience, preferably within automotive testing, validation, or calibration.
Experience in verification and validation (V&V) activities.
Basic knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
Experience with test execution, measurement, and calibration activities.
Good understanding of test documentation and reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with a structured and methodical approach.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with automotive Bluetooth / Digital Key technologies.
Experience with Android smartphones and mobile-device testing.
Knowledge of passive start / passive entry systems.
Understanding of automotive regulatory or insurance-related requirements such as UNECE/WP29 and Thatcham.
Experience working with vehicle-level testing and calibration environments.
