Service & Information Engineer – Aftermarket Service Engineering
We are looking for a hands-on Service & Information Engineer to develop and secure efficient service and repair solutions for complex automotive products.
This is a technical, hands-on engineering role focused on serviceability, repair methods, technical information, diagnostics, and maintainability. The successful candidate will help maximize product uptime and ensure that products can be serviced safely, efficiently, and with high quality throughout the aftermarket lifecycle.
Technical hands-on competence is a non-negotiable requirement. This is not a project management or programming position. The candidate must be self-driven, practical, and comfortable working independently in a complex engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and secure optimized service and repair solutions to maximize product uptime and aftermarket maintainability.
Create, develop, and maintain accurate technical service information and documentation.
Develop preventive and corrective maintenance and repair instructions.
Ensure service solutions meet requirements for serviceability, safety, quality, environmental performance, and maintainability.
Analyze products from a service perspective and identify improvements to simplify diagnosis, maintenance, and repair.
Evaluate and develop special tools and equipment required for service and repair operations.
Define and evaluate standard repair/service times for workshop operations.
Secure the quality, completeness, and readiness of service information before release to downstream systems and processes.
Perform hands-on technical analysis, troubleshooting, and evaluation of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
Work with technically complex products based on common architectures and shared technologies.
Independently manage and drive assigned technical activities from analysis through delivery.
Support improvements to global service engineering processes, methods, and tools.
Apply Lean principles to improve efficiency, quality, and ways of working.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, verification, workshop, aftermarket, and other technical stakeholders.
Share technical knowledge and contribute to competence development within the organization.
Required Qualifications
Typically 2–5 years of relevant professional experience within automotive service engineering, workshop engineering, maintenance, repair, diagnostics, or a closely related technical field.
Strong hands-on technical/mechanical competence – mandatory.
Practical experience working directly with vehicles, machinery, mechanical/electrical systems, or other complex technical products.
Experience in service, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, or repair activities.
Good understanding of automotive mechanical and/or electrical systems.
Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, specifications, service instructions, and engineering documentation.
Experience creating or working with technical/service information and repair instructions.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned technical tasks.
Highly self-driven and proactive, with the ability to plan and prioritize work without continuous supervision.
Comfortable working in a complex and changing engineering environment.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong focus on safety, quality, serviceability, and customer uptime.
