Senior ADAS Function Developer – Safe Vehicle Automation
We are looking for an experienced Senior ADAS Function Developer – Safe Vehicle Automation to join a team responsible for developing, integrating, verifying, and validating advanced driver assistance and vehicle automation functions.
The role focuses on hands-on testing in complete vehicles, with an emphasis on real-world driving scenarios, customer-relevant situations, and the performance of advanced vehicle functions. You will plan and execute physical vehicle tests, analyze function behavior, identify deviations, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve safety, reliability, robustness, and overall customer experience.
The ideal candidate combines strong automotive testing knowledge with practical vehicle experience, structured verification methods, and a genuine interest in advanced driver assistance systems.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, execute, and document vehicle-level testing of ADAS and active safety functions.
Perform testing in complete vehicles on public roads and proving grounds using real-world driving scenarios.
Verify and validate advanced driver assistance functions, including collision avoidance, low-speed assistance, driver support, and automated driving features.
Prepare test setups, ensure test vehicle readiness, define test routes, and coordinate proving-ground activities.
Define test scenarios, establish pass/fail criteria, and document test results, deviations, and observations.
Evaluate functional behavior, performance, robustness, availability, usability, comfort, and overall driving experience.
Analyze vehicle logs, test data, and system behavior to support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Provide clear, structured feedback to function developers, system designers, software engineers, and other stakeholders.
Work with in-vehicle communication, diagnostics, and data logging tools to investigate system behavior.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify issues, track deviations, and drive continuous improvements.
Utilize simulation, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and rig testing where appropriate to complement physical vehicle testing.
Contribute to improving test methods, test efficiency, and verification processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation and Control, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Hands-on experience in complete vehicle testing, preferably within ADAS, active safety, automated driving, or other customer-facing automotive functions.
Experience in planning, preparing, executing, and reporting physical vehicle tests.
Good understanding of verification and validation methodologies, test scenario definition, pass/fail criteria, and deviation management.
Ability to assess vehicle function performance from both technical and customer perspectives.
Experience in vehicle data logging, diagnostics, and analysis of test results.
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, INCA, DLT, or equivalent.
Basic scripting or automation skills, preferably Python, for test preparation, data processing, or log analysis.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
A valid Swedish B driving licence and the ability to conduct structured testing in real vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HIL, SIL, simulation environments, test rigs, or CI/CD-based verification.
Experience in proving-ground testing, customer-oriented fleet testing, or safety-driver activities.
Additional driver training or experience in evaluating advanced driver assistance functions under different driving conditions.
Familiarity with radar, camera, ultrasonic, lidar, and sensor-based perception systems.
Experience in automotive software development, system integration, or function verification.
Understanding of vehicle dynamics, active safety systems, and real-world driving scenarios.
Personal Attributes
Self-driven, structured, and hands-on approach to engineering and testing.
Strong interest in automotive technology, ADAS, active safety, and automated driving.
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to evaluate how vehicle functions perform in everyday driving situations.
Attention to detail and the ability to identify unexpected system behavior and potential safety risks.
Clear communication skills and the ability to translate technical observations into actionable feedback.
Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and work closely with development and verification teams.
Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on delivering safe, reliable, and intuitive vehicle functions.
