We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support database modernization and migration initiatives. The consultant will play a key role in database migration projects while providing specialist expertise in database architecture, performance optimization, security, and operational management.

The role also involves identifying opportunities for improvement, establishing sustainable working practices, and ensuring high-quality documentation and knowledge transfer to the internal team.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and support database migration activities across existing database environments.

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases.

• Analyze database performance and implement improvements through query tuning, indexing, and resource optimization.

• Monitor database environments proactively to ensure availability, stability, security, and performance.

• Troubleshoot complex database issues and identify root causes.

• Develop and implement scripts and automation using PowerShell or other relevant scripting tools.

• Assess existing database architectures and identify opportunities for modernization and operational improvement.

• Implement database administration best practices, security measures, and operational standards.

• Maintain technical documentation covering database configurations, migration procedures, operational processes, and recommendations.

• Transfer knowledge to internal teams and support the development of sustainable database management practices.

• Provide independent technical advice and recommendations to support long-term database reliability and efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Several years of documented experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or in a comparable database specialist role.

• Very strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.

• Proven experience with database migrations in large-scale or business-critical IT environments.

• Strong knowledge of database performance analysis and optimization, including query tuning, indexing, and resource analysis.

• Experience in database monitoring, proactive maintenance, and operational support.

• Practical experience with PowerShell or other relevant scripting and automation tools.

• Ability to independently analyze database environments and identify appropriate improvement measures.

• Strong documentation skills and experience in knowledge transfer.
