You will work in a cross-functional manufacturing engineering environment, collaborating with equipment suppliers and engineering teams to ensure robust, reliable and high-quality production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead manufacturing process development for laser cleaning and laser welding applications.
Define process sequences, parameters, process windows, critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and weld acceptance criteria.
Evaluate materials, coatings, joint designs, accessibility, heat input and contamination effects on process robustness.
Define technical requirements for laser sources, beam delivery systems, optics protection, extraction, safety, monitoring and traceability.
Support RFQ preparation, supplier evaluations and technical equipment design reviews.
Coordinate fixturing, clamping, datum and tolerance requirements with cross-functional engineering teams.
Plan and execute process trials, Design of Experiments (DoE), verification activities and capability studies.
Lead process risk assessments, root-cause analysis and corrective actions during commissioning and production ramp-up.
Develop process monitoring, inspection, rework and production-readiness strategies.
Required Skills & Competencies
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial laser welding process engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automated laser manufacturing equipment industrialization.
At least 3 years of experience in laser process-window development and weld-quality validation.
Strong understanding of fixturing, clamping, datum structures and tolerance interactions.
Experience preparing supplier technical specifications and conducting equipment design reviews.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, joining technologies and production industrialization.
Ability to independently lead technical assignments and coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in laser cleaning, laser ablation or surface preparation processes.
Experience with High Voltage Battery Assembly, busbars or electrical joining applications.
Knowledge of aluminum, copper and dissimilar-material laser joining.
Familiarity with inline process monitoring technologies such as vision systems, OCT and pyrometry.
Experience with automotive APQP, PFMEA, process validation and production launches.
Experience working with automated high-volume automotive manufacturing systems.
Education
